“Beast Philanthropy” - Mr. Beast

I was tasked by Dan Mace and the Joe Films team to rebrand the previous design style of “Beast Philanthropy”, a Beast channel with over 11 million subscribers. We needed a design style that felt more real and authentic, while still retaining the recognizable Beast colors. I’m super proud of what we made.

THE PROCESS

BOARDING & TESTING

I had three days to concept and bring to life a vision to sell it in to the Beast team. It had to feel much more authentic to the previous animation structure, which while was built for performance, was not as nuanced as is needed for philanthropy work. Here’s some of the first boards, boardomatic, and animation test I did:

ANIMATION TEST

I took that and built out some rough drafts of the concept, my vision was all about paper, turning his ideas into a plan. Dan Mace’s style uses a lot of table-top stop motion, and in essence, I loved this idea that you as the audience are “planning” with Jimmy on what’s going to happen.

After we got boardomatic approved, here’s the first full animation I built:

PRODUCTION

We had to sell in the concept, and with this we were able to. Now into production, where we had a script that was always in flux, and so we had constantly changing pieces. I ended up with four main sections, and we had to build in a transition concept to the footage, so we developed this “paperization” of a persons form, like this:

Last round of revisions, we’ll make some final tweaks after this but here are some GIF’s of where we’re at:
